The American Community Survey Continues Across the Country 600 400 Census 2020

The American Community Survey is a legitimate survey conducted by the Census Bureau. Unlike the every-10-year census, this survey continues all year, every year. The Bureau randomly samples addresses in every state and county, including LA County. Answers are collected to create up-to-date Census statistics. If your household has been contacted to complete the American Community Survey and you would like to verify that this survey is legitimate, please call toll-free 1-800-354-7271.

If someone has visited your address, and you would like to verify that this visit is legitimate, please call 1-800-923-8282 to speak with a local Census Bureau representative. Census field staff will always show a valid Census Bureau ID and a copy of the letter the Bureau sent to your address. Learn more about the American Community Survey in the below video.

Please note: There are citizenship and place of birth questions on the American Community Survey. While a citizenship question WILL NOT appear on the 2020 Census, the American Community Survey does ask questions about citizenship, place of birth, and year of entry into the United States to create data and statistics about citizens, noncitizens, and the foreign-born population. Under current census laws, the federal government can only use respondents’ confidential survey answers to create statistics.
